The Alien Within: 10 – Late to Bed, Early to Rise…
Later to Bed, Earlier to Rise…
I am, habitually, an early riser!
That is to say; I would much rather be up and about, sooner in the day, than spend it vegetating in the horizontal.
Life’s far too short…
So much so; I really do actually enjoy those mornings, when I rise at 0400hrs, to take a day’s commute to North London.
Since my early years, when I earned a bit of pocket money on a paper round, or two, I have not ever enjoyed the sleep-in mentality. Sleeping well into the morning, or even afternoon as some do, even on a weekend, is simply no an option for me. On those very rare occasions I may have overslept, I have been left with what I can only describe as a ‘hangover head’. That awful thumping, sickening, raging head that threatens to blast out of your skull with every movement, the slightest noise, accompanied by the thick, sick, dizzy feeling one experiences after a few too many egg nogs the night before (or so they tell me!).
I also retire, habitually, late in the day and always have. Even more so currently, trying to ensure tiredness has properly set in before hitting the sack. Doesn’t always work, but more often than not…
After a somewhat fitful and uncomfortable night, today started pretty much how yesterday ended, with that nagging, uncomfortable, sometimes painful, dull ache deep in my gut! I also seemed to lack any residual energy – but I was warned this would be a likely after effect of the last three weeks of increasing daily doses of steroids. I just was not anticipating the effect being quite so dramatic.
Conversely, the Senopods appeared to have no effect whatsoever! So, I started the day with a bowl of neat Bran and soya milk and hoped for the best…
My Bloods appointment was for 1300hrs, so I left early and decided to grab a sammich and a Flat White at the Hospital Costas – AND, made my first Watch Pay jobby, how awesome is that. So unbelievably quick too, I was properly gobsmacked, as was the Barista serving me, who had not been there before either. We both learned just how good Apple is when it comes to such tech.
I arrived at the Day Ward by 1245hrs and, believe it or not, was pretty much dealt with immediately on arrival. Bloods taken, results awaited for around twenty minutes max and we’re good to go, yay! The results were as expected, with no abnormalities, well, outside of those expected!
Toodled off home, downed a glass of prune juice and sat back wIting for the relief – nothing!
More prune juice has been consumed this evening, after a modest, but unfinished healthy evening meal, and the Senopods pack has delivered a couple more tabs to work their magic overnight, possibly, maybe, perhaps? We will just have to wait and see, or not!
Next Bloods appointment is Wednesday…
NEXT: The Alien Within: 11
I use a powdered herb (in capsule form) – Cascara Sagrada – and it never fails me! Take 2 before bed, and voilà!
….but the burning question I have is: What’s a Flat White??
Nice one Rog. Glad the Watch is working well too.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks a lot M – I am trying… 🙂
Very good news on blood work and super news about the watch! I love when technology works the way it is supposed to!
