The Alien Within: 44 – Defender Of the Peace!
When will ordinary people learn…
To not mess with a Defender?
Minding my own business filling up Mamba in our local BP station (and yes, before anyone asks, with Ultimate!).
Hitting the £50 mark on the counter, suddenly Mamba started lurching front to back and side to side.
What the hell, I thought and stopped the pump mid flow, leaving the nozzle firmly embedded in Mamba, to investigate?
Long story short, this is what I saw stopped at an angle across the front of Mamba…
Whoopsie daisies!
And the damage to Mamba…
Clearly, the numpty had misjudged his exit rather poorly and caught the end of Mamba’s rather sturdy D44 bumper.
Ripped into the Leon like opening a can of sardines!
Worse still, immediately after it occurred, I told him to hang fire while I finished filling and returned the nozzle to its holster! After which I took the photographs and investigated the damage to Mamba.
Once done, and pictures took, the station attendant came over to join us, as did a very nice man on the pump next to me who had seen it all and offered me his card as a witness.
I asked the driver if he was insured and he said he was. I told him to hang on for two minutes while I paid for my fuel, so we could exchange details as, I said to him, “I do not want you claiming that I drove into you and caused that extensive damage!”
He declared it was all his fault and he would not dream of doing such a thing. Of course not!
As I was paying the attendant, the young lad did no more than got into his broken Leon and drove off.
Reported via 101 and they advised me to take all my details and report it to the local plod station, which I did. Apparently the car is registered to a lady owner, oh dear.
They are going to follow it up as a leaving the scene without exchanging details, which is, apparently, a criminal offence even on private property.
It is rather hard to follow that really…
So I won’t, other than to remind myself that Cycle 3 commences tomorrow!
NEXT: Cycle 3 – Day 1
Well, that kid is going to be in BIG trouble!!! And your mammoth vehicle is virtually unscathed. _/\_
Indeed Catkin – trying a cheeky claim n the owners insurance now – not the driver by the way… 🙂
