The Alien Within: 17 – Five or Eight?

Vegetables Rule…

A very dear friend of mine recently enquired whether I am getting my five, or is it eight, a day of fresh fruit and vegetables to keep my strength up whilst fighting The Alien Within.

Well, with this lot we have a good chance of finding some of them at least…

We have an abundance of Runner Beans, Carrots, Beetroot and Potatoes going on at the moment.  Coupled with all the fresh fruit and other veggies Jilly brings home, if I could manage them all I would easily exceed the eight.
So we are, at least, trying to be there, or thereabouts.  But my appetite is still depressed and likely to remain so for the foreseeable, so trying will be as good as it gets folks.

Good news today, the booster injections have certainly worked their magic and the Bloods results showed a marked improvement in the critical WBC count.  As my appointment was fairly early today, the results called for a crafty Flat White, plus a little breakfast nosh.

Secondary to the improvement in the Bloods, the link in my PICC line did not interfere with the blood letting and, although there is a definite crease in the line at the kink site, it seems to be no worse off.  But I did make sure the top dressing placed the line in a better situation this time, lesson learnt.

I am feeling much more human and normal today, although energy levels are still pretty dire and my tummy is still a little dicky!  But nowhere near where it was just a few days ago and at least we know how to deal with this next time around.

My next visit is for the pre-treatment consultation on Thursday in the pm.  We will then be privy to what is in store for next time…
