The Alien Within: 48 – Chemotherapy Week 3: Done
Cycle 3 Still to do…
Friday 11th saw my third Chemo Pump disconnected and the subsequent push boost applied!
Cyclophosphamide, the pushed boost, is the real killer in terms of cumulative side effects of my Chemo cocktail. Almost immediately after its injection, referred to as a intravenous push injection, I feel it getting to work and over the coming weekend they manifest themselves stronger each time it is fed to me.
First to go are my taste buds, worse this time when even water tastes weird, let alone anything vaguely week in flavour. Tried a St Miguel with our Friday dinner at The Bell and regretted it immediately – flat and tasteless.
Only really strong, preferably very tart flavours are getting through, particularly in drinks terms. Adding really tart grapefruit cordial to an exceptionally tart can of lemonade Jilly found is one that still does the job. It is, hopefully, only temporary and may last until Tuesday or Wednesday, until next time.
The other annoyance is the tingly numb fingers and, increasingly this time, toes. But I don’t type with my toes so they’re not so bad, although I have developed an awesome blister on the little tiny toe of my right foot somehow. That makes walking interesting!
I have been making more typing errors on both iPhone and iPad and working on either for too long increases painful numbness – any old excuse for a break hey… 🙂
The weekend is going to be interesting…
NEXT: Cycle 3 – Day 6
Halfway through this journey Rog!!! xoxoxo
Very nearly Catkin, just two weeks without Chemo to be truly halfway, but as good as because we know how these two weeks will pan out…
