The Alien Within: 21 – Prisms & Aliens
The Eyes Had It…
Those who have been with me since pre-Day 1, will already know the theory we put forward that it did not all start with a cough?
My attendance at Peterborough City Hospital. this morning was not, for a change, anything to do with The Alien Within, or was it?
My appointment was with the Ophthalmology Unit for a follow up for my squiffy eye.
I did ask about the diagnosis, which is by any other name double vision, of a vertical nature; aka Diplopia caused by 4th nerve paresis. Apparently!
Since my first visit to the ophthalmologist, back in February of this year, I have had to revert to glasses again, over my preferred contact lens solution, because I needed a prism in order to align what my eyes see. It does not align my eyes, simply what they see. During my last visit, a couple of months ago, the strength of the prism had to be increased as the original one was no longer aligning my vision and some diplopia was evident.
Since then, I have, as you now know, been diagnosed with Cancer and have been undergoing treatment to zap The Alien Within. The really weird thing is that after a night without my glasses, I was having to wait an increasing good few seconds before my vision would align and I would be able to focus on stuff.
Having explained this to the eye unto staff today, we tried various lower strength prisms, which did seem to do the job. But, the tests continued and the upshot is, the best result for me, the prism was removed completely, although I still have it jic.
So, has the zapping of The Alien Within, allowed my squiffy eye to return to normality?
Was the squiffyness caused by the appearance of The Alien Within, in which case the Alien was clearly doing his dastardly deeds in my chest way before the end of 2014…
The medical profession will not commit to either of these suggestions and could offer up no evidence that the two things are linked in any way. Just a coincidence then!
Or was it…
Other than that brief interlude, today has been pretty normal, with good energy and no residual issues from my first treatment cycle, ending with a visit to The Bell @ Stilton for Friday’s Fish!
NEXT: Week 3 – Day 20
Hope your weekend is equally as normal, my friend!
