The Alien Within: 51 – Extremities, Head to Toe
Heads, Hands, Feet & Bumpsy Daisies…
Extremities are a bit weird! For the most part they dangle from other parts, whilst capable of the most intense touchy feely sensations.
Extremities: Late Middle English: from Old French extremite or Latin extremitas, from extremus ‘utmost’. (Courtesy: OxfordDictionaries.com)
Mine are certainly living up to the intense sensation element of their job in life, but not quite in the manner intended for them. Personally, I believe they are hell bent on preventing me from keeping up with my daily ramblings here so you, my wonderfully avid reader, are deprived of the full and true story of their shenanigans.
Those at the end of my arms (my tortured digits) certainly managed to curtail any keyboard activity last night by increasing their sensitivity to the point it was too painful even to softly touch the iPad’s touch keyboard. So it is now tomorrow and I apologise for the slight late appearance of Number: 51. I will try and do better for 52…
To begin, for the benefit of one Catherine Restivo, aka Catkin. My Lymphoma paraphernalia has arrived, including the ribbons we were discussing earlier in my Journal entries…
I was over the moon the dedicated Ribbon colour for non Hodgkins Lymphoma, which is my diagnosed cancer, just so happened to be a lovely lively shade of Green!
As is usual for a Monday, I attended the Day Unit for my post Chemotherapy blood tests. When the results came in the attendant nurse remarked they were rather high! That is, both my WBC & Neuts, were reading over 20 (whatever measure that is) and should not be so high. The reason, apparently, is because of the Fragnocyte injections I was prescribed to commence on Day 6, last Saturday. I was advised to cease the injections to enable my blood count to adjust downwards.
I was also asked to return on Thursday, instead of the usual Wednesday, to give the count a reasonable time to reduce. This may jeopardise the weekend activities as, if there is anything abnormal in the count on Thursday, they may well ask to check them again over the weekend. This would mean a visit to the Oncology/Heamotology Ward, as the Day Unit is closed at the weekend.
As inferred above, the sensations in my extremities are becoming increasingly intense and the locations are also increasing. My topmost extremity, my head, is now experiencing jaw ache, which includes the joiny bit and along my teeth/gum line.
Let us see how my body starts to claw back its extreme sensations tomorrow (today!)…
NEXT: Cycle 3 – Day 9
Love the matching earrings. Pic please (you wearing them) 🙂
Sorry to hear of the problems with your extremities; however, your new bracelet and pins are lovely!
Oh, I am happy your color is green, and agree with Jen that I want a pic of you in your new *earrings*!! 😀 So sorry about this weird nasty side effect! I’m hoping it is temporary…. xoxo
