The Alien Within: 30 – Rained & Drained…
Didn’t we do well…
A great weekend for British Sport and Athletics topped with a great win in Belgium by Lewis Hamilton!
Mo Farrar did good in the 10k at the World Chamionships in Beijing, as did Jessica Ennis-Hill, who retained her World Title.
Not British; but Usain Bolt just scraped a major win in the 100m at the same Games, which was a big one in the eye for drug takers, so well done that man.
You might have guessed I spent a good deal of time relaxing today, well, as my darling daughter says, that’s what Sundays are for. Who am I to argue. In my defence, it was looking pretty miserable outside, eventually, and the rain did turn up here, just as everything finished. Just as well because the washing needed gathering in from the outside drier, before it became a wetter…
Aside from that, today is the start proper of energy drain, I guess the fall-out from over-dosing on Steroids as well as the impact of the Chemo cocktail on my systems. It is a gradual drain, most noticeable when I take Benson out for his evening constitutional. Last night, it was a foreshortened walk because of the heat. This evening, although we delayed because rain stopped play late afternoon, it was a shorter walk because the rain quickly turns the usual longer route into something of a sticky, clayey mess of mud. This is not pleasant for either of us and is best avoided.
Anyway, the early part of the wLk is uphill and I can readily gauge energy availability pretty much as soon as I start out. Tonight was a good indicator and forces a slower rate of pace up the hill, or it can become painful and hard to draw breath.
Strangely, as soon as we level out and as long as I do not go too mad, the symptoms relax and we are then able to enjoy the rest of the walk. And coming home is always downhill…
I did wake with the start of the pains in and around my mouth and jaw but, as yet, this has not developed further into my gums and teeth, which is a bit like having a total mouth ulcer when it strikes.
The tingly numbness in my finger tips remains, but the taste buds have improved through the day. I can only think the culprit for the taste buds is the mahoosive Chemo booster they ‘push’ into me on a Friday, after Pump Off.
And I am tired, so it is probably a good time to sign off, bid you all a good night, with pleasant dreams and we’ll catch up tomorrow, after I have been for Bloods in the a.m.
NEXT: Week 5 – Day 8
I totally agree with your daughter regarding Sundays. (y) 🙂
Sorry to hear of more weird symptoms…I hope the mouth pain can be kept at bay. Sending you lots of hugs from the ever-more-cool-as-Fall-approaches state of New Jersey. xoxo
