The Alien Within: 5 – The Inevitable Storm…
Teacup Sized Anyway…
Well it started off with something a little different – a bit of excitement when I went to bed last night at around midnight, but not in the manner one might expect…
Long story short: I was having some discomfort in my chest around the site of the Alien Within – a kind of dull persistent pain and some weird fluttery/fluffy feelings deep inside, which combined to make sleeping impossible, even with a couple of Paracetomol. It all meant I ended up not getting a lot of bobos last night and, instead, spent all night in Peterborough City Hospital A&E after an enforced Ambulance ride in the wee smalls!
Nothing too serious really, I was just experiencing some weird and unusual symptoms and, having followed my very strict instructions to let the 24hr Haematology/Oncology Team know whatever time of day or night, the on-duty Staff Nurse advised calling paramedics, as they needed to rule out any potential cardiac issues!
Paramedics arrived in minutes few and after a quick ECG and basic other stuff, the Paramedic insisted I take a ride with the Ambulance Team, who had already arrived!
During my brief (?) stay in A&E they did various monitoring, tests, bloods, X-Rays and stuff! All of which were perfectly normal and indicating absolutely no issues with the old ticker mechanisms.
They finally let me go at 0630hrs and my gorgeous and long suffering wife Jilly picked me up bless her – she is going through an awful lot, but being as steady as a rock for me, even if I know she is properly crumbling inside!
So, back home and some sort of normality once more, including an un-scheduled nap after breakfast and morning dosages, a visit to the hospital for a top up of one of the cocktail and a chat with the Nurse Specialist in Haematology, Benson walking, a bit slower than usual, but still need fresh air and exercise…
So I went to hospital this after to chat with my Keyworker Specialist Nurse and, although she cannot say for certain, as the cocktail affects symptoms and side effects differently from one person to another, but the weird sensations and bit of pain I have been experiencing are likely to be the combined results of the Alien Within, now being well and truly blitzed by the chemotherapy, together with the internal bits and pieces it has been restricting simply trying to get back to some kind of normal operation! Just a little bit of pain in the affected area and some weird fluttery stuff going on in my chest…
They really just wanted to be on the uber safe side, I do understand that, but I am a little tired from too little sleep while they checked me over?
But all is good and the results of all the tests were good, so Alien blitzing continues apace.
NEXT: Week 1 – Day 4 – Penultimate Day of Week 1 Chemotherapy
Take THAT nasty alien!
