The Alien Within: 6 – Who’d a Thunk it?
Dog Walking with a Chemo Pump?
The penultimate day of treatment for Week 1 means we are nearly at the end of a concentrated, tailored, week long drip feed of an Alien blasting cocktail containing chemotherapy drugs, tablets, injections..
And you know what, it has not been at all bad to be fair.
We started the week not knowing at all what to expect, but probably fearing the worst from the few snippets of information one hears about such treatments.
However, the reality has been somewhat different and, dare I say, pleasantly surprising.
Yes, probably due to the high dosage of steroids, I have felt a little drained towards the end of each day, although a little hyper during the early parts. Other than that, most days this week have been as near normal as we might have dared. Work has been done, dog has been walked and, aside from a midweek trip to A&E, all other aspects of a normal daily life have been successfully maintained.
Not only that, but really, who’d a thunk it…
Today, I realised, as I trod the rural its surrounding us in Cambridgeshire, not far from the Northamptonshire border, I was out in the Summer clouds, walking with Benson, complete with an Alien Within whilst, at the same time, continuing to blitz the unwelcome visitor I carry with me…
Life is good when one can multi-task on a simple, pleasurable walk in the country with man’s best friend!
NEXT: Week 1 – Day 5
